He is a globally acclaimed and highly regarded scholar, strategic development expert, corporate executive, and authority on world affairs and on Africa’s strategic industrial, political, and socio-economic transformation into global competitive capacity.
A renowned author and critic, Dr. Okpaku’s intellectual interests, knowledge, expertise, and accomplishments (like his academic training) span the full spectrum from science and technology, through global and continental strategic development and politics. He holds a B. Sc. degree in Civil Engineering from Northwestern University, an M. Sc. degree in Structural Engineering from Stanford University and a Ph. D. in Dramatic Literature and Theatre History, also from Stanford University.
Dr. Joseph Okpaku, Sr. began his career as the founder and publisher of The Third Press, which at the time was the leading Black-owned book publishing company in the United States. He is also the founder, chairman and CEO of Transcontinental Industrial & Energy Development Company, Limited, a company that is dedicated to promoting world-class industrialization, scientific, technical and R&D capacity in the industrial, clean, and sustainable energy in Africa.
